Schedule at Glance
Celebration of the 10th anniversary of EMBC 2010 will be carried out through a 3-day
virtual event:
Day 1 – August 26th (11 am): The EMBC 2010 opening will be replicated with the presentation of the event by Prof. Ricardo Armentano (2010 General Conference Chair), followed by a lecture by Prof. Luis Kun (IFMBE, IEEE SSIT, EMBS, CS and 2010 Keynote Speaker), which will focus on the conference motto “Merging Medical Humanism and Advanced Technology: A Holistic view of Humanity’s needs”. The session will end with a roundtable, where representatives of the 2010 conference of will exchange impressions and experiences about their role in the event and the impact of that participation on their professional life.
Day 2 – August 27th (11 am): The second day of the event will be focused in addressing the current aspects of Biomedical Engineering, such us research and development in the region, educational approaches, available biomedical technology and access to economical resources. The session will begin with a lecture by Prof. Shankar Krishnan, president of the International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering (IFMBE). Subsequently, several specialists from different organizations such as IEEE-EMBS, the Latin American Regional Council on Biomedical Engineering (CORAL), the Argentine Society of Bioengineering (SABI) and IFMBE, among others, will participate in a panel discussion.
Day 3 – August 28th (11 am): The event will conclude with a lecture by Prof. Yasemin Akay, from University of Houston and the closure lecture by Prof. Metin Akay, EMBS President Elect for 2020, who will share his thoughts and expectations about the global and regional future of Biomedical Engineering.
